SHOP HELPER- Minneapolis, MN Olympic Steel, a leading national steel service center, is seeking a talented addition to our staff. Status:Full Time Responsibilities The Shop Helper is an operations team member with the primary goal of satisfying customer requirements of quality, quantity, and delivery, in a safe manner, while maximizing productivity. Specifically, the Shop Helper is responsible for all job activities required to support production processes. These activities include but are not limited to: receiving, stacking, storing, shipping, and transferring of all material and supplies in the warehouse; fabrication of wooden skids, banding of material off machines, maintaining proper grade traceability, material identification, chipping and grinding parts to meet our customers specifications, use of business system to receive and track use of material, and inspecting for quality conformance. Qualifications Prior Steel Industry or related manufacturing experience is highly preferred. Any technical or vocational education in relation to skills listed below is also highly preferred.
Experience with the following is preferred: . Forklifts . Overhead cranes . Warehouse activities such as receiving, stacking, storing, shipping, & transferring material . Steel processing equipment (slitters, lasers, levelers, torches, shot blasters, and plasma/oxyfuel burning equipment)
