PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: To conduct and provide insightful analysis and planning assistance in order to offer decision support regarding the company’s retail sales channel. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 1. Analyzes business trends within the company’s retail sales regions and stores to identify underlying dynamics and opportunities for operational improvement. 2. Reports analytical findings to management for further analysis and decision making. 3. Develops and maintains additional retail reporting metrics to assist business leaders with understanding the results and effectiveness of strategic initiatives and programs. 4. Handles the budget process for the retail sales channel in order to support business initiatives. 5. Administers the new store proforma modeling process from model creation to post-opening analysis and model review. 6. Adminsters the retail staffing model and works with the Retail Operations department to monitor its effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. 7. Participates and supports the development of long-term strategic plans as it pertains to the retails sales channel by translating the plan into financial projections. 8. Leads ad-hoc special financial and business related studies on an as needed basis to support project objectives. 9. Performs competition analysis on a regular frequency and reports relevant findings to management for consideration. 10. Promotes and implements automation in all reporting and analytic functions. 11. Provides back-up support to the Manager of Planning & Analysis as required. 12. Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinates/communicates plans and activities with others, as appropriate, to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach. 13. Performs related work as apparent or assigned.
Minimum Requirements
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting. • At least 5 years of related experience in retail financial reporting and analysis. • Extensive experience with financial statements, financial modeling and financial concepts. • Superior analytical skills and intellectual/analytical curiosity. • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and methods. • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access and Word. • Ability to be entrepreneurial and creative in ambiguous situations. • Ability to partner cross-functionally at various levels of the organization to address both strategic and tactical matters. • Experience with SAS Business Intelligence software preferred. • Knowledge of AS400 and JD Edwards Financial Software preferred. • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of Company and others.
