Job Overview
Position Summary:

This purchasing leadership and global supply chain impacting position is responsible for setting and executing purchasing strategies for commodities and services required within and across global sites of the St. Jude Medical Cardiovascular Division (CVD). In conjunction with supporting internal business supply chain optimization activities and projects, this role identifies, defines, and quantifies opportunities for supplier cost reductions, supplier development actions, supplier technology transfers, and then executes strategies to achieve them. This position has high visibility across the CVD organization and is expected to support new and existing products, technology, and supply chain activities related to them across all global CVD locations.

Essential Functions:

Duties and Responsibilities:
. Leads divisional, cross-divisional and as requested SJM corporate initiatives for commodity management and supplier negotiation activities. Viewed as a global strategy and subject matter expert for commodities assigned to them.
. Implement sourcing strategies to support objectives in the area of direct or indirect commodities, providing CVD competitive cost advantages, risk mitigation, and continuous supply in the areas of materials, supplies, and services assigned.
. Manage supplier total cost, quality, and delivery performance. Understand, track, and forecast the key cost drivers and market factors for assigned commodities
. Locate new supply sources, analyze options, and make recommendations to optimize the global supplier base to meet current and future commodity needs
. Lead or assist in negotiations with suppliers and manage contracts/agreements for assigned commodities. Improve contract compliance and enforcement as needed.
. Support operational and buying teams to implement and train on new or enhanced ERP system(SAP) functionality and understand our SAP impacts to our supply base
. Maintains and promotes sound relationships with suppliers, the business community, and participates in SJM cross-divisional supplier actions and negotiations as needed
. Promotes and supports all company efforts, policies, and requirements to enforce or encourage EEO policies and other required government practices by suppliers.
. Creates and maintains mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement. This includes driving continuous improvements across the supply base and within CVD sites and operating groups.
. Develops cross-functional awareness to understand division-wide R&D or operational needs and evaluate supplier capabilities and business abilities to meet them.
. Lead joint CVD and supplier continuous improvement projects to assure all activities are performed as required and project deliverables and timetables are met.
. Participate in annual operating budget planning and provide inputs and analysis required for annual purchase price standards reviews.

Other Duties:
. Participates in Continuous Improvement projects that impact internal and external teams
. Project management
. Possible mentoring / work guidance of Buyers or other supply chain resources
. Support activities performed by Buyers as needed

Education and Experience:
. Minimum of 8 years of progressive Materials/procurement experience
. CPIM / CPM or Green Belt / Black Belt designation preferred
. Advanced knowledge of purchasing and lean manufacturing principles
. BA/BS in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance or equivalent
. Proven ability to lead, influence and motivate others in a matrix managed environment
. Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Spanish language skills preferred
