This position supports all business units of a globally diversified technology/service company, creating a dynamic, challenging, and varied work environment. This position will entail a variety of software engineering work with a focus on new product development. Technologies you might be working with include user interface design, kernel development, networking, database design, wireless communications, systems programming, and real-time sensor systems. You will work on developing embedded software for control systems utilizing microcontrollers and/or Linux-based systems, including design, analysis, system level testing, manufacturing transfer, and post launch support.
Main Responsibilities:
* Participate in new product development by supporting cross-functional teams and business units in software development of new product offerings
* Leadership role in a software development team
* Research, design, develop, debug and validate software for Ecolab’s chemical dispensing systems
* Ensure compliance with design criteria and standards
* Test, evaluate and analyze systems to determine or prove performance and reliability
* Occasionally provide direction to testing and lab support personnel
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in a technical field
* 7 or more years experience with professional software development
* 2 or more years experience in a lead software development role including managing software development processes
* 3 or more years experience in a role involving the definition of technical product requirements and development of formal design documentation
* Experience in one or more software development projects in one or more of the following areas: user interface development, kernel development, complex build environments, database design, networking
* Legal authorization to work in the United States – no immigration sponsorship is available for this position
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with software development for the Linux/Unix operating system
* Experience with embedded software programming
* Experience programming in C/C++ languages
* Experience programming in scripting languages such as Python or Perl
* Initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team while handling multiple tasks or projects
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, organizational skills and attention to detail
* Demonstrated history of staying current with technology in applicable disciplines
