My client is an expert in building systems which measure force, strain, fatigue and durability. They are seeking to add a talented Engineer to their staff to improve their transducer capabilities. Primary responsiblities are:
Design and build a variety of new/custom force, and force & motion transducers as a member of a dynamic, cross-functional team for domestic and international automotive customers, motor sports, aerospace (civilian and military), and geo-civil applications.
Satisfy system performance measurements by optimizing transducer design characteristics such as hysteresis, repeatability, accuracy, thermal drift, span shift, dynamic performance, and fatigue strength.
Integrate new and existing transducer concepts seamlessly into custom mechanical machines by managing numerous design tradeoffs such as size, accuracy, cost, lead time, manufacturability, reliability, and risk.
Act as a thought leader, bringing new products and technologies into the design of the products.
Support existing standard force transducer product lines which include multi-axial and spinning wheel force transducers.
Assist and/or lead new Research and Development projects.
Design and build calibration fixtures for new product designs.
Resolve engineering issues related to manufacturing of existing and new product lines.
Provide expert-level support to system engineers and sales to quickly and accurately estimate cost and accuracy of competing transducer concepts.
Provide timely and valuable input while interfacing directly with all levels of internal and external customers to troubleshoot force measurement problems.
Occasional travel required
Requirements:
BS in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 5 years experience with an emphasis in materials science, strength of materials, machine design, and dynamics is preferred. Analog circuits coursework and experience is a plus.
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering fundamentals to ensure successful coordination with broad engineering efforts on projects and products.
Strong interpersonal skills to enhance internal teamwork and customer communication.
Ability to assist in developing technical capability of engineers and designers in their understanding of Transducer Design and Manufacturing.
